Independent app lab

Apps worth
keeping.

YGB Labs makes a small number of apps, each one built over months to fix a problem I ran into myself.

Why YGB Labs

Made in months, not in an afternoon.

The App Store is filling up with apps that were made in an afternoon and forgotten by the weekend. Mine aren't like that.

Every YGB Labs app started the same way: I was using something that didn't work the way I needed it to, and I couldn't find anything better. So I spent months building the version I wanted, testing it on my own life, and rebuilding the parts that weren't good enough.

I'm not building for a trend. I'm building for people like me, and I use every app I make.

The apps

Every app starts with a problem.

Calendar-first budgeting

Every budgeting app I tried showed me where my money went last month. I wanted to know where it was going this month, and what I could safely spend today.

Quit bad habits, together in one place

Habit apps tracked one thing at a time, and quitting felt like a chore. I wanted every habit in one place, and quitting to actually feel rewarding.

A couples app

For long distance relationships

Long distance is hard, and couples apps felt like a novelty or an afterthought. I wanted something that makes the distance feel smaller every day.

Where the name comes from

It started as a game.

YGB started as my PlayStation gamertag, YourGameBroke. When you start a business in GTA Online, you have to give it a name. I called mine YGB Enterprises.

It was a game, but it was also the first time I thought of myself as someone who builds things and runs a business.

Now the business is real. YGB Labs is where I build the apps I wish existed.

How I build

Five rules every app follows.

01

It starts with a real problem.

If I wouldn't use it myself, I don't make it.

02

It takes as long as it takes.

Months, not days. Designing, testing, and rebuilding the parts that aren't right yet.

03

It respects the person using it.

No fake countdown timers, no dark patterns, no selling your data. Clear prices and an easy way to cancel.

04

It keeps getting better.

I read every review and support email, and I ship fixes.

05

There's a person behind it.

When you email support, you're talking to the person who built it.

Made carefully, for a reason.

If an app has the YGB Labs name on it, it was made by someone who needed it to exist, for people who need it too.
